Congratulations

 to  Emma Beales, Natasha Nolan and Laura Edwards

Who competed in the British Championships held at The Guildford Spectrum 28th & 29th June.

Emma finished in 18th position Overall in the senior championships and gained a place in the Vault Final.

Laura finished in 10th position Overall in the junior championships closely followed by team mate Natasha in 11th position overall.

All the girls competed in the Apparatus Finals –

Lora trains in Romania

Twelve year old Lora Long from Dynamo in Hamble is travelling to Romania this weekend with the Great Britain Potential Squad. She will train alongside the Romanian gymnasts and have the opportunity to experience a top class system. This will be a challenging time for Lora and the other squad  members.

She will spend a week under the guidance of National coaches and away from her club coach  “ I hope this experience will inspire Lora to keep on working hard,  she is physically strong but we need to test her mental strength and readiness for world class competition “ said Sarah Sharkey  her personal coach.

“Lora is a candidate for the London Games, but the standard is very high and she will now have to continue to progress to reach the standard required for the Olympics” said Dynamo Director Keith Richardson. Training three times a day and following a strict nutritional programme will be a far cry from her normal daily programme.  The training will be intense, including strengthening, flexibility and choreography and hopefully time for a little cultural sightseeing.

The results will be clear when the Dynamo team including Lora take on the mighty Liverpool at the British Team Championships at Guildford in May.

Kerri Upton is back on Track

Kerri Upton has returned to the top level of the Artistic Gymnastics scene. She was recently given the all clear after 18months out due to  major knee reconstruction. Kerri was devastated when she had to withdraw from the squad just before the World Championships in 2006. At her peak a small congenital hole in her cartilage meant she could not train for 6 months followed by a wait before a decision could be made on her future in the sport.

After a  tough rehab  programme  she has reached the standard that  encouraged the technical committee to invite her to participate in the Olympic Trials.

“ Upton has shown that with patience and hard work you can return to high level gymnastics  after injury. She is better than ever and is truly taken ownership of her goal to be in the Great Britain team for Bejing  “ said Keith Richardson

March 2nd Club Grades 4, 3 and 2 Milton Keynes

Jade Shephard, Kirsty Kitcher, Alex Dallimore, Jess Oliver and Ellie Markwick took part in the Grades on Sunday 2nd March.  It was a tough competition and all the girls achieved personal goals.  Congratulations to Jess who passed Grade 3 and Ellie who passed Grade 4.  Jess and Alex reported that the doughnuts for breakfast was a highlight for the weekend!
